!!!STAY ISSUED!!!: 04/26/12, Adams, TX

On Monday, 04/23/12, Federal District Court Michael Schneider stayed the impending execution of Beunka Adams in Texas.  No doubt influenced by a recent United States Supreme Court ruling that established the right to competent representation in the appeals phase of a death penalty case, the judge signaled that Mr. Adams’ claim of inadequate legal counsel during the early stage of his appeals should be adjudicated before he is put to death.
