Armband Alert: 04/18/12, Wiles, OH
Please wear a black wrist band tomorrow, 04/18/12, in silent protest of the execution of Mark Wiles by the government of the state of Ohio. Mr. Wiles will be poisoned to death for the 1985 murder of Mark Klimas (see attached images).
Mark Wiles confessed to this crime, demonstrated extraordinary remorse and maintained a good record of behavior during his twenty seven year incarceration. Further, his actions were influenced by a brain injury involving the part of the brain responsible for impulse control and by his diagnoses of substance abuse and personality disorder. Execution is universally reserved by its practitioners for the ‘worst of the worst’, which does not include Mark Wiles. He is being defined by the worst thing he ever did; instead, he deserves treatment and rehabilitation. Ohio was only two weeks ago allowed to go forward with this execution because of multiple variances from their own required lethal injection protocols. A federal judge noted the state’s ‘consistent inconsistency’ in applying their own procedures. Ohio must cancel this execution of Mark Wiles.
