Armband Alert: Esparza, TX, 11/16/11

Please wear a black wristband today, 11/16/11, in silent protest of the execution of Guadalupe Esparza by the government of the state of Texas. Mr. Esparza will be poisoned for the 1999 murder of Alyssa Vasquez. 

Guadalupe Esparza has led a troubled life, collecting a long list of criminal convictions.  His attorneys have asked for time to prepare an appeal based on Mr. Esparza’s mental retardation.  Texas appeals courts have so far denied the request for a stay, so it is likely that Mr. Esparza will be executed tonight as planned.
